In Windows 10 / Windows 11, the Device Manager can no longer be
used remotely. Although you can connect to a remote PC via the
computer management, the following error message appears when the
device manager is called up:
Unable to access the computer <computer name>. Make sure
that this computer is on the network, has remote administration
enabled, and is running the "Plug and Play" and "Remote registry"
services. The error was: Access is denied.
This error appears both when connecting from a Windows 10 computer
and when connecting to a Windows 10 computer.
Cause
The reason for this is that Microsoft no longer supports remote connections of the device manager under Windows 10 and Windows 11. The DeviceTool provides a remedy.
DeviceTool is an alternative device manager for administrators. DeviceTool can switch devices on and off remotely and runs under Windows 10 / Windows 11. An overview:
